Looking Beyond the Easy Answer
10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania is once again presenting its signature program, the Commonwealth Awards to honor and celebrate great projects and the people who make them happen. We hope that you will want to be apart of the 2010 event, May 11th, 2010 at the Hilton Harrisburg.
Seeing the Creative Possibilities
At 10,000 Friends, we are energized by the growing number of creative projects in Pennsylvania that will shape our growth and prosperity ... the kinds of investments that breathe new life into declining neighborhoods, increase opportunities in communities on the rise, and find new uses for vacant manufacturing sites. The past several years have shown us that in spite of a difficult economy, great projects and outstanding leadership are more important than ever. This year we are expanding the scope of the Commonwealth Awards Program. We have created a new awards category for affordable housing projects as well as leadership in community development. The Opportunity for All Awards Program is being sponsored by PNC Bank.
That’s Leadership
The 2010 Friend of Pennsylvania will be presented to PennDOT Secretary Alan Biehler. We know that you won’t want to miss the opportunity to honor Secretary Biehler on his many achievements in state government. His vision and leadership on smart transportation and infrastructure projects have advanced economic development and fostered a better quality of life in communities throughout the commonwealth.
Recognizing the Good Idea
The Commonwealth Awards event has two goals – to honor the best projects and individuals, and to share the best ideas and practices in smart growth. Once again we will have an outstanding speaker on smart growth and we will feature a poster session with the award winners so you can learn more about their outstanding projects. We expect the 2010 Commonwealth Awards program to be our most comprehensive yet and anticipate over 200 participants.
