The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Uniontown (RACU) is presently constructing Maple Street Estates, 10 new single-family detached for-sale homes within walking distance of the central business district of the City of Uniontown in Fayette County, Pennsylvania.  The Maple Street site formerly features 12 vacant and dilapidated homes that were purchased and demolished by the RACU to make way for this new development.  At present, four of the total ten homes planned are under construction.  The homes will be taking advantage of the existing infrastructure, including all public utilities. The living space of the homes average 1,600 square feet. Total project cost is approximately $2,000,000 including acquisition, demolition, construction and all soft costs. All homes feature 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths.

Initial funding for the construction of the homes comes from a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) grant.  As the homes from each phase are sold, sale proceeds will be used to construct the next phase of homes. The NSP funding allows for very generous income limits of 120% or less of the median income. The sale price of each home will be based on appraised value, the buyer will receive a deferred second mortgage that will make the home affordable.
