Market at 5th is a fusion between green design and historic preservation. The mixed-use project is a rare case receiving both LEED Gold accreditation and meeting the standards of the Secretary of the Interior for historic preservation. Once left for the wrecking ball amid an ambitious proposal to redevelop the core of Pittsburgh’s Downtown business district, the local preservation community stepped forward and acquired the structures for renovation. Set between the construction of a new office tower and the restoration of Pittsburgh’s historic Market Square. Market at 5th restores an important street connection by adding a combination of stylish apartments and vibrant on-street retail to downtown Pittsburgh.
