The historic renovation of the GC Murphy Building, located in the Central Business District (CBD) of Pittsburgh PA, marked the completion of a project that had languished for 15 years, prior to local developer, Millcraft Industries taking over. Millcraft stepped in and combined 7 separate buildings into one mixed-use development, now known as Market Square Place, consisting of 46 loft apartments, a 44,000 square foot YMCA and 27,000 square feet of storefront retail.

Pittsburgh’s Central Business District, a high density urban area, greatly benefitted from the adaptive reuse & redevelopment of the former GC Murphy building into this first class residential and commercial property.

Adjacent to the 200 million dollar Fairmont Hotel project and nestled within Market Square, residents of Market Square Place are able to take advantage of downtown city life 24/7. Located on 5th & Market, this project is one of the cornerstones of Pittsburgh’s Third Renaissance.

Total square footage is 140,000 and total project cost was $40,333,735.
