SAVE THE DATE! - 2012 Commonwealth Awards: The Life's Work of Mark C. Schneider-Building Healthy Communities

10,000 Friends of Pennsylvania is once again presenting its signature program, the Commonwealth Awards, to honor and celebrate great projects and the people who make them happen.

Please join us in celebrating the impact and accomplishments of Mark Schneider on December 5, 2012, with our special guest speaker, Dr. Richard J. Jackson, the co-author of the book and host/narrator of the public television series, "Designing Healthy Communities." 

The event will be held at Point Park University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Our program this year will depart from the established format (of recognizing multiple submissions from across the state) to emphasize the theme of "Building Healthy Communities" and honor the life's work of our late friend and Chairman, Mark Schneider. Important Smart Growth projects that Mr. Schneider participated in will be presented by partners that know them and their impact best. In addition, our highest individual award, the "Friend of Pennsylvania" Award, will be presented to Mark posthumously and hereafter shall be renamed the "Mark C. Schneider Memorial Friend of Pennsylvania" Award in Mark's honor. Our Keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Jackson of the UCLA School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Jackson's work and television series, "Designing Healthy Communities," are award-winning and recognized nationally.
