"The Greater Philadelphia region is a fantastic place to live, work and play, but as we look toward the future there are steps we must take to improve our quality of life, enhance our communities, and position the region for sustainable growth. We need to address urban sprawl, protect natural resources and preserve open space, invest in our transportation infrastructure, reinvest in our older communities, and focus on energy efficiency and green jobs.

These are lofty goals to be sure, but they are essential to ensuring the viability and sustainability of the Greater Philadelphia region for decades to come. Recognizing the need to put this vision into practice, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission embarked on the task of developing a long-range plan for the region that serves as a roadmap to guide the growth and development of our region and find our way to a promising future."
