Funding shortfall could shelve roundabout designs, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

"Pennsylvania's transportation funding shortfall could put the brakes on development of roundabouts, which are growing in popularity across the nation as a way to make congested intersections safer and more efficient.

"Our initial experience with roundabouts has been positive," said Scott Christie, deputy secretary for highway administration for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. "The obvious issue right now is that we're struggling to maintain road conditions and bridge conditions."
