"A labor union announced yesterday that it is including Pennsylvania in a national advertising campaign warning motorists they're about to cross structurally deficient bridges.
The ad campaign's introduction in Pennsylvania, announced at the Labor Day Parade in Pittsburgh by the Laborers' International Union of North America, occurred hours before President Obama called for $50 billion in infrastructure funding during a rally in Milwaukee. One in four bridges in Pennsylvania is considered structurally deficient, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
"The longer we wait to fund these things, the more they cost," said Dennis Martire, the union's vice president, at the rally in a Civic Arena parking lot.
