The Overlook Park development is a transformative project for the City of Allentown. Overlook skillfully integrates aspects of environmental restoration, affordability and neighborhood design. The project consists of a mixture of affordable rental housing and market rate homeownership choices. Project developers transformed the site of an adjacent city dump into a public park creating an amenity for residents. Housing units innovatively introduce accommodations for residents with special needs and energy efficiency, while also making homeownership possible for first time buyers. Two bus lines serve the development and a riverside trail is in the planning phase. Overlook also integrates well with surrounding communities by connecting the street grid with existing neighborhoods.
