Public Infrastructure Projects
When the historic York County Administrative Center no longer met the county's needs, the Commissioners considered two options: tear down and rebuild, or renovate the existing structure. By choosing to renovate the original 1898 building, the county sent a message to the community of the value of historical preservation. By incorporating green building techniques and achieving LEED certification, the county set an example for ensuring the future sustainability for their community. Through these actions, York County has set the bar in Pennsylvania for what a government administrative center can be. This project is proof that historic preservation and green construction can go hand in hand.
